Islamic World News: Cooperative Islamic Waqf Fund Will Benefit

Islamic World News: Islamic Financial Services Cooperatives (KJKS) and Islamic Financial Services Unit (UJKS) ready to manage the waqf funds to empower micro and small businesses that currently the value of its assets are estimated at around Rp3 trillion

Pariaman Sinaga, Deputy of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Financing, said it has prepared about 2506 units of Cooperative Financial Services Unit of Sharia and Islamic Financial Services (KJKS / UJKS) for these tasks.

"Utilization of funds from the asset endowments to encourage economic activity of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in rural areas," he said, after the workshop waqf management opportunities for the empowerment of SMEs through KJKS / UJKS, Wednesday (21/12/2011).

According Pariaman, according to Law No. 41 of 2004 concerning endowments, cooperatives as legal institutions and microfinance institutions (MFIs) have the opportunity and the role of sharia mengoptiomalkan extensive utilization of waqf.

The idea of utilizing waqf consisting of three types, ie, endowments are not moving (ground), (cash), and (stock), so that people who have been marginalized can enjoy a better life through business activities.

Many empowerment programs are implemented through government agencies, but the results are not very optimal. Therefore, the capacity of capital to the needs of the business community has not been comparable.

Therefore, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs together with the Ministry of Religious Affairs to initiate the use of endowments for economic empowerment of the people. "In terms of institutional and legal entities, we are ready to operationalize KJKS / UJKS," said Pariaman Sinaga.

Previously the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs have signed a joint agreement (MoU) to take advantage of zakat, infaq, sadaqah and waqf (Ziswaf) for the empowerment of SMEs.

In Business pages mentioned, Ziswaf funds in 2011 is estimated to have reached Rp100 trillion, and around Rp3 trillion of which came from endowments. That is why the Ministry of Religious Affairs provides opportunities to the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs harness the potential of empowering SMEs.

"The Ministry of Religious Affairs explained, the management of funds sourced from Ziswaf, can be managed by individuals, institutions or organizations with the principles of Shariah. Consequence management in the future be entrusted to KJKS / UJKS."

Distribution patterns of financing, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs with the Ministry of Religious Affairs will work closely with the National Agency for Amil Zakat (Baznas), National Institute of Amil Zakat (Laznas), as well as Agency Endowments Indonesia (BWI)
